RVers Can help other RVers by posting recipes! Find out how.

Escapees CARE Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (tax-exempt) corporation formed in 1992 and is under the guidance of a volunteer board of directors.

CARE answers the question, "What happens to full-time RVers when they cannot take care of their own or their spouse's needs following an illness, injury, surgery, or the progression of a long-term health situation?"

Friends may offer to help, not realizing that a "little help" will become a need for extensive help with no end in sight. Is it fair to put that burden on neighbors or relatives who have their own lives to live? There has to be a better alternative than depending on neighbors or trading your RV home for a land-based residence. There is!

It is located in Livingston, Texas, and it is called CARE (Continuing Assistance for Retired Escapees). Its mission is to provide a safe haven with professional assistance at affordable prices for members whose travels are permanently ended because of age or temporarily interrupted because of health problems.

CARE is a place where you will receive professional help for the things you may no longer be able to do. It is not a nursing home. Its goal is to delay or eliminate the need for a nursing home.

Help Escapees serve RVers with this special program... make a donation for a fellow RVer today!

Members of RVScrapbook.com are invited to help with a fundraising effort for CARE now. Post a recipe in our forum before the end of 2006, and we will include it in a special E-Recipe book - all proceeds will be donated to CARE on behalf of members of RVScrapbook!

Where did all the long-haired hippies go? They're in RVs now!

Where did all the long-haired hippies go? They're in RVs!

I was thinking about hippies last night. When I was a kid, hippies were something my mother warned me about. Now they're my RV customers, my camping buddies... and lots of them got their hair cut, got jobs, retired... I hope they still remember what it was like to be a hippie.

I missed all that. I was a kid of the eighties. We were punk-rockers, Madonna fans, got cold sweats over Billy Idol and such; and we thought we'd discovered the Beatles... hence, our reverence for the hippies that went before us.

Now I'm a mom, and my own kids are part of a culture that is shocking the world. Gangster rap. MySpace. Shirts that show your bra strap. Darn kids - what's the world coming to? Isn't that what our parents all said? Hippies, punkers, fans of that hip-grinding fellow, Elvis! Gasp!

The reason I bring all this up is that I am proud of my kids and their friends.

This has a lot to do with camping, believe it or not; and I'll tell you why.

We RV with our kids all the time. Half of our trips include their cousins, and more than half of our trips involve other kids being around the camp site, hanging out, burning marshmallows, hanging wet towels on my picnic table.

It sounds messy, exhausting, maybe irritating. I assure you, it's not.

It's inspiring.

On our last trip to Iowa, Daniel and Deb (my two teens), met up with three new cousins. The little one is nine, the older two were eleven and sixteen. Five teens and pre-teens... what handful! Only it wasn't...

I watched with great pride as my two teens (shocking, gansta-rap-loving, cell-phone-using, video-game-playing heathens) took the little guy under their wings and kept him busy.

I'm sure Debb would rather have been doing something other than building a sailboat out of trash. I'm sure Daniel has outgrown Pokemon card games years ago... but there they were, playing with their cousin Michael like little kids. Maybe it was even a relief to them to indulge in those childish pleasures - or maybe they're just good people, up-and-coming grown-ups that I am proud to call ours... maybe camping with their family has taught them the joys of acting like a child again, when they can?

I watched a little longer, until the sun went down. They gathered around a fire pit to compare tastes in music with the other teenager, Austin. Now, all the scary talk, the under-breath giggles. We just know they are talking about things we don't want to hear!

But if this rebellion lives in them, as it once lived in all of us - how can that be anything but good?

Strange temples with solid foundations... maybe that's what they are? What is worshiped there, inside them? We'll never know, but they're our leaders now... we must trust them.

And for reassurance I look around me. I look to my brother-in-law, a hippie who has returned to the clan, retired, grown his hair long once again, stopped shaving until his beard is mid-chest, wearing shirts with crazy characters on them, and raising this grandson with a deep sense of moral fiber that shows through his born-again-hippie facade. This guy kills me. He makes me laugh, and he's rock solid - golden in character. It's okay... the hippies got us this far... let the cell-brats take the wheel.

RVScrapbook lets RVers socialize online... update

Our first month at RVScrapbook was amazing. Never before has a web site launched so quickly, with so much user participation - and never before have RVers had a place on the web where they could meet each other in "real time." It took off like a NASCAR race - thanks to YOU!

We would like to give special thanks to the many RVers who came over to help us get started, who already have successful web sites of their own. They range from Bloggers, to Circle of Trust RV Family Companies, to individual RVers with special interest clubs and sites.

Thanks to members like Cyber Celt, CliffBoyd, RV_Education_101, Round pub, RVLiving , RVLifestyle and many others, beautiful pages were created, exciting pictures were uploaded, and video and music now fill our "fun" section - along with some fantastic reading - even recipes.

Then RV families began to join us - and much to our surprise, quickly mastered the arts of blogging, uploading, creating profile pages, instant-messaging, and playing with all the "toys" at the site. Our community came to life - and YOU made it happen!

So now that this community is thriving, we want to say "thank you" with a few gifts for our GOLD members... so keep reading!

You are probably already familiar with the company that created RVScrapbook, the Happy Camper 1/2 Price Club. We provide camping at a 50% discount at campgrounds nationwide, and we've been serving RVers for over seven years.

Our experience with Happy Camper Club has taught us that RVers come to the web to LEARN. Many visitors to our site come by to visit for months and months before they ever join our club - many of them are still in the process of buying an RV - and we know that by providing valuable resources, we create a loyal following. RVers appreciate good information - and we build trust with our customers by GIVING IT AWAY FREE.

We've created two popular ebooks in the past year at our web forum, with the help of real RVers, and some great COT companies. One was a "Camping Tips" ebook, and the other was an excellent collection of "Camping Recipes."

Any visitor to our site can request a FREE copy of either, or both ebooks, and they were fun to put together, too.

We can see from the very beginning that RVScrapbook is a rich resource that must be shared. TONS of valuable information is posted every day - SO WE'RE GOING TO MAKE ANOTHER FREE EBOOK... AND YOU ARE INVITED TO BE PUBLISHED IN IT!

All GOLD members at the site will receive a copy of this collectible ebook - absolutely free - upon its completion in mid-September...

Happy Camper RV Club's 'RVScrapbook' Explodes Online, Bringing RVers Their Own MySpace-styled Social Network on the Web

Happy Camper RV Club's 'RVScrapbook' Explodes Online, Bringing RVers Their Own MySpace-styled Social Network on the Web

Happy Camper Club, the leader in discount camping for the recreational vehicle community, launches new concept online for social networking. This MySpace-styled web site is an online journal for RVers, a blog site, a picture gallery, a collection of personal travelogues, and provides video, music and entertainment about RV travel -- just for fun. RV camping enthusiasts have a safe place to journal their trips with their own web pages, made public or kept private for family and friends to follow their RV trips. Site offers free membership, expanded features with a monthly subscription, and hundreds of user-controlled options.

Monroe, LA (PRWEB) July 17, 2006 -- Happy Camper Club, the leader in discount camping for the recreational vehicle community, launches new concept online for social networking.

"We never imagined so many people would 'get' the idea of social networking for RVers,"
says Anne Pierson, Happy Camper Club's president, describing reaction from visitors at the company's new site: http://www.rvscrapbook.com. The site was unofficially opened to select invitees just three weeks ago, and is already a vibrant community, serving the RV camping enthusiast with a unique online experience.

The site provides a free venue for creating a "scrapbook" of one's RV camping adventures. A GOLD membership at the site is free for 30 days, then costs less than 2 gallons of gas in the RV, or a cup of Starbucks coffee to maintain. It features games, music, instant-messaging among members, blogging, groups to join and create, customization for the pages RVers design, and an unlimited network of social opportunities for those who enjoy the RV lifestyle. The key feature is the user's ability to make his own network private, for friends and family only; or share it with the entire RV community. Basic features are free to all RVers, all the time.

Pierson explains, "The site was born of countless conversations with our web visitors, and the main thing RVers are seeking is a place to enjoy RVing online when they are not traveling. If they're not yet on the road, they like to talk about it, dream about it. If they just took a trip, they want to keep it alive by keeping a journal of it. Many have considered starting a web site about their travels, but hesitate because of the expense, or their lack of know-how. We also have RVers with unique situations, like homeschooling, who want to meet other families like themselves.

There are other social sites out there, but none of them focus exclusively on this unique community of camping enthusiasts. RVers and their families want to know that their kids are safe online, and the "kids and teens" group is already very active. Unlike other social sites, parents know that their children using this site will not be contacted by predators and spammers. Each member is manually approved by the administrator.

RV companies are also involved. Pierson explains that, "RV companies are often owned by actual RVers, and RVers should know this. It's very important in today's RV industry, that we, as corporations, let our customers know that those who serve them share the same interests, the same lifestyle.

"We have some fantastic companies participating; and they have added a layer of interesting items that RVers are enjoying. They are getting personally exposed to campers that don't know much about them, and that's important. These are real people who share the passion for the lifestyle."

The site is now open for new members, and is free. RVers who want advanced features can subscribe to a 30 day free trial membership at the site, and can cancel membership any time.

Happy Camper RV Club Doubles Membership, Surprises Customers with Freebies, Creates a Unique Environment Online for RV Travelers

Like no other RV club, Happy Camper Club offers discount camping across the nation at a whole new level. Going the extra mile is key to the club's growth, giving more than what is promised, helping RVers learn more with free ebooks, and making it possible for the club members and site visitors to create their own RV trips online.

Monroe, LA (PRWEB) May 5, 2006 --

Happy Camper RV Club is well-known throughout the camping industry as a half-price discount rv club. With over 1,000 campground and RV park locations in the US and Canada, the club has doubled membership in the last two years by giving "more than what is promised" to its members, and creating a web site that gives RVers a fun environment online for trip planning and learning.

Club president, Anne Pierson, describes the secret to the club's success by stating, "We always give more than we promise, and our members love the extra bonuses we create to serve them - above and beyond our promise of saving 50% on camping. Members never know when they will get an email from us with a fun "freebie" they can request by mail, or an interesting addition to our web site."Our goal is to surprise and delight our visitors and members with added value wherever we find it. As an example, our friends at RV Education 101 gave us a generous gift to share. They provided a free RV Checklists Ebook to us for new members, and the feedback on the ebook has been pure excitement. New members can't believe it when they get a welcome letter from us with this bonus, because we don't even advertise it."

Mark Polk of RV Education explains, "If we don't write down what we need to remember, inevitably we forget something. This can be especially true with RVs because there are just too many things to remember. You will want to protect your investment in a routine and safe manner."In this 80 page e-book, there are over 35 checklists applicable for pop-ups, travel trailers, fifth wheels and motorhomes, to use from the time you purchase your RV until you store it for winter and everything in between. It includes checklists for Pre-delivery Inspections, Basic Inventory, Tools & Supplies, Getting There Safely, Campground Set-up, Pre-Trip, Home Security, Dinghy Towing, Essential Items, Nice to Have Items, Traveling with Pets, Awning Operation, Winterizing & De-winterizing your RV, Storing your RV, Battery Testing Chart, Spring Prep, and much more.

"We were so excited," says Karen Oschler, a new Happy Camper member. "We joined Happy Camper because they were so highly recommended by our friends who are members. As soon as we joined, they sent us RV Ed's Checklists e-book, which I wasn't even expecting. As a "newbie," I have so much to learn about camping in a recreational vehicle... that ebook was on my list of things to buy - and I got it as a gift!"

In addition to periodic bonus features, the club's fundamental services focus on providing a detailed camping guide, listing each participating rv park and its amenities, pricing and details. The club membership card gives RVers half off the regular rates at quality nationwide campground locations, and the web site provides a chat forum for sharing information, a free trip planner for RV trip routing, tips and advice, RV news articles, a Camp Store, and personal features for those who register as users at the site (membership not required).

"Over 2,000 visitors a day access our web site," states Pierson. "It's full of so much information for RVers; our members return again and again, and non-members are able to learn, become familiar with our services, and join in the discussions. We give non-members full access, because the RV community is about sharing information. Non-members who use our site are able to hear about our 50% discount benefits first-hand from other members, and they're the best salespeople we have."

Happy Camper projects that it will double membership again in 2006, and invites potential members to visit the web site to learn more. A free "Camping Tips" ebook, and other hidden "freebies" are available at the web site for all RV travelers.

Chuck Woodbury sounds off on discount camping clubs...

Editor's Corner
By Chuck Woodbury

We are posting this issue earlier than normal this weekend due to downtime on our email server that would have held up our Sunday email alert until the afternoon.

The battle of the half price camping clubs has heated up with a new player from the Affinity Group, owners of the Good Sam Club, Trailer Life and Camping World. The latest "club" is CampClub USA, a clone of the Happy Camper Club and Passport America, established family-run organizations that offer 50 percent discounts at RV parks across North America for an annual membership fee of about $45 to $50.

I'm baffled at the need for the new club, when the other two do a fine job. We've had a close relationship with the Happy Camper Club ever since we began publishing on the Web and have grown to highly respect the organization. After Hurricane Katrina, owner Anne Pearson opened her own Louisiana RV parks to New Orleans refugees, hosting many families for months, some living in tiny travel trailers and even pop ups. She spearheaded a fund-raising effort that helped put food on the displaced RVers plates and buy clothing and other essentials for their children. The Happy Camper Club and Passport America have approximately 1,000 participating RV parks in their respective networks, and are responsible for saving RVers hundreds of thousands of dollars in overnight camping fees.

What Makes Happy Camper the BEST Club for RVers?

Half Price Camping is such a good idea, there are copy-cat clubs coming into the market all the time. It's important for RVers to know how to spot a quality club, and we want to share with you some of the things that make Happy Camper Club special.

We take our reputation seriously. With a long history of serving RVers, Happy Camper Club is a family-owned company, created by the owners of Shiloh RV Resorts in Monroe, LA. We've been serving members and park owners with equal passion for nearly a decade. Anyone can start a club - but should they? Benefits to members must be REAL. There must be parks everywhere an RVer goes on trips in order for members to realize true savings; and the offers in the camping guide must be real, too.

Why join a club that offers only a few parks, the parks restrict the discount in most cases to one night, eliminate weekends, or make it generally difficult for an RVer to get a realistic discount? Slick packaging won't hide the facts for long... a quality program is built with quality offers for RVers. We know this because we ARE RVers. We actually USE the discount program in our travels, and we HOST club members at our two RV parks. We can't be distracted from the truth in the quality of a program - can you? And we also know that RVers usually carry more than one discount card in their wallets - that keeps us on our toes - because when there is no competition, consumers lose! It's important for us to recognize that there are other clubs, and to be aware of what makes RVers loyal to each one.

Most of our members belong to several clubs, and that's great - the more you save, the better for everyone. We try to add the touches that make half price camping a TRUE value, and we ask only that you compare what we offer with everyone else, and make good decisions when you refer your friends. So... we thought we'd toot our own horn this month, letting you know about some special additions we've made to Happy Camper that will save you more REAL dollars on the road:

1. We've added over 100 MONTHLY DISCOUNTS at RV parks to our membership. This is in response to the growing number of our members who travel for longer periods of time, and many full-timers coming to us through our partnership with Escapees.

2. We've enhanced our online capabilities to serve our growing market of internet-savvy customers. You can now visit with each other in our online RV community forum, join the club and get INSTANT access to your membership card, browse the camping guide in full online, plan your trip with our exclusive FREE online trip planner, and use a personal calendar at the web site - PLUS, get RV news updated every day at the bottom of our home page. Who else does all that? NO OTHER CLUB serves RVers online with these features.

3. Our 2006 Camping Guide is now full of bonus features. We've added recipes, camping tips, technical articles by the experts at RV Education 101, and classic RV essays by Chuck Woodbury - now it's not just a directory, it's a fun-filled resource you can use all year.

4. Our camping guide on CD ROM is a much-requested add-on to your membership. It has everything the camping guide has in print, plus MUCH more. We've added fun games you can play on your computer, expanded online resources, a products catalog, and clickable links to EVERY Happy Camper park with a web site - plus an easy-access portal to the trip planner. It's the favorite item of the year for our members.

5. We are the only club that offers a whole FREE YEAR for referral of new members. We firmly believe that the best way to grow the club is for our members to invite their friends to join. Word of mouth is our most important endorsement, and we must be doing it right - because we double membership every year through member referrals. Thanks for staying aware of the discount camping programs available to you, and for giving us your input as we go along.

WE COULDN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOU, and those of you who have written to us or called know that WE LISTEN, and WE RESPOND to what our customers want.

Happy Camping!

RVers Play for Free Prizes at RV Lotto - Learn about Circle of Trust RV Family Companies

RVers can play a free game at RV Lotto, plus learn about the Circle of Trust RV Family of RV Companies. What makes it so cool is that advertising new RV products has never been so much fun for RV consumers - and a genuine effort is being made within the industry to offer RVers new choices.

It is no secret that one company owns most of the RV media, hence the barrage of mail and email to RVers, exposing our camping community to only a select group of products - and not ALL products available to them. RVers who have been around the lifestyle for a while know that sometimes smaller, less visible companies produce items of higher quality and give more attentive service than what is offered in Camping World and other large catalogs - but how does one learn about these products, when the companies are independent ones that cannot afford that kind of advertising every month?

A solution presented itself in January 2005 when a handful of friends in the RV business decided to create their own larger arena - by gathering many independent companies with sterling reputations, and inviting them to get together for some joint advertising. (Nearly one hundred companies of excellence have already becomes members). RV Lotto was born, and RVers have become loyal to the game for two simple reasons:

1. RVers really do win - AND receive their prizes from the sponsor companies immediately.

2. RVers really do pay attention to which companies sponsor the game, and make a point to buy from these companies to encourage the superior customer service they are offered - and to support the fun, free RV Lotto game.

As one of the co-founders of the Circle of Trust RV Family, I invite all RVers to play RV Lotto and see for yourself what can be accomplished when customers are always FIRST, and quality is emphasized in all areas of serving the RV consumer. Fellow co-founders are Dawn and Mark Polk of RV Education 101 and Matthew Burt, web expert and creator of the RV Lotto.

Membership in the Circle of Trust RV Family is FREE, and companies that embrace our ideals are always welcome to join us. RV Lotto is also FREE, and RVers are always welcome.

Help us give you more choices to enhance your RV lifestyle.

The HOP staff is still confirming details, but just a few of the proposed activity choices for the agenda include a special presentation and VIP tour of the Visitor Center (one of the best of its kind), a walking tour of the town, a visit to an elk refuge, a trip to a fish hatchery, a nature walk, and more. If that’s not enough to whet your appetite, after dinner on the first night of the HOP one of the musicians from the symphony is presenting a “behind the scenes” look at the life of a professional musician. Jackson Hole offers something for everyone. Plan to arrive early and stay late. There’s a lot to do and see. The Jackson Hole Rodeo, with competition bull riding, team roping, barrel racing, and much more, happens every Wednesday and Saturday night from Memorial Day to Labor Day. There are eight resort spas in the area offering head-toe pampering. There’s also rafting, kayaking, back-packing, golfing, hang-gliding.
